Isidorus, the man delivering the letter to you, is one of my household. By origin he is from the village of Psōphtheōs in the Memphite district, and he pays the poll-tax there and the other dues as well.
But after being detained by your people, he was compelled to give a written acknowledgment (a signed note) for the purpose of sowing, near the village of Philadelphia, five and a half arouras from the Libyan revenue land.
Therefore I ask you—also in view of my standing with you—if there is any remembrance on your part of my friendship, keep him free from harassment and see to it that the written acknowledgment is returned to him. If you do this, you will have done me a favor.
