Note: The source text is fragmentary/duplicated in places (likely from an OCR or transcription with line-break artifacts). The translation below renders the sense of the document where the Greek is clear: it is a formal deed of sale/transfer of land (arourae) with payment in gold coin, boundary descriptions, tax/dues clauses, warranty against claims, and witness subscriptions.
(I declare) that it has been written down for you, and that I have handed over and delivered to you, from now and forever, for all time and continuously, with the fullest right of ownership, in accordance with justice and good faith, and with all authority and everlasting lordly possession, the property belonging to me and having come to me by lawful inheritance from my father … namely, in full, (a parcel of) land measured in arourae … each aroura being (measured) by sixty-four (units) … of unirrigated/dry land … as set out above by the public measuring rope (standard).
(This property is) in the eastern plain of the aforesaid village of Aphrodite … and I will mark out for you the same aforesaid boundaries … (with clauses concerning) what is not to be measured within the same boundaries, and matters of division/embankment/earthworks through the said holding …
(As to the price:) one coin in settlement at the rate of one keration (carat), and the other two coins in settlement at the rate of two keratia, according to the goldsmith’s weight-standard of the same village; thus (the payment amounts to) gold coins … with keratia … which gold (as) the price I, myself, have received …
I have received it through your hand into my hands, in the presence of the lawful witnesses who sign below, as full payment by number and weight at the same time as the sale took place, at the agreed price; and I am satisfied/assured …
From this point you, the purchasers, are to possess and have full title and exercise ownership and control over two arourae of unirrigated land … according to the above specification; and (you may) reside, manage, build, lease out or sublease, farm/cultivate, and transfer it on to your own heirs and successors and subsequent holders; and to use and enjoy it in whatever owner-like manner seems good to you, without hindrance and without obstruction …
(You are to) discharge the obligations due … that is, so many measures of wheat by the public measure … by the public yoke/assessment, without canal dues, without earthwork dues, without guards, without shepherds, and without any other (charges) and without any titles/claims, beginning from the assessment of the present fifth indiction, for the crops of the (God-willing) sixth indiction and thereafter, for all time and completely; and none of my heirs after me, or co-heirs, or relatives, or those related by kinship, shall make any claim against you.
And whoever in the future should come against you concerning this matter, I will turn him away at my own expense and cost, and I will confirm (this sale) for you with every form of legal guarantee forever, against anyone who attacks or lays claim at any time under compulsion.
But if I should be less diligent about providing this guarantee, I will repay triple the purchase price, together with the difference and the expenses … so that this sale may be valid and strong wherever it is produced; and this simple deed, written out, I have executed for you willingly and knowingly, without violence or compulsion or deceit or any error or fear or trickery, (to be) completed in the public archive and according to the laws, with my signature and those of the customary trustworthy witnesses who have testified at my request …
For the confirmation and clearing/validation of this written deed, I place at your disposal for this purpose all my present and future property and assets, movable and immovable (and generally of every kind), as a pledge and lawful mortgage, as if by judgment.
And when questioned concerning all that is written, I acknowledged that it is so, and that I will give, do, and observe (these terms).
It is clear that (there are obligations) for the same two arourae … by the public measure together with transport charges … and four (units) by the public yoke/assessment, as has been stated.
Aurelius Konstantinos, the aforesaid, executed this sale and received the aforesaid full price: three gold coins; and I will guarantee it to you with every guarantee; and all the written terms stand against me; and I swore the divine oath as stated.
(Subscriptions:) Aurelia … (assents) to this sale as stated. Mathias Enoch, God-willing presbyter, wrote on her behalf, she being unable to write. Aurelius … I testify to this sale, having heard (it) from the parties who executed it; and I also testify to the payment of the gold, the three coins of the price. (Further witness testimonies similarly repeated.) … Through me, Andreas, God-willing, tabellion (notary).
